Oh my, good luck easing into this one. It is truly unputdowanable...I only slowed down when the book was coming to an end because I couldn't imagine it ending! Loved it. Read and reread it🥰
I started reading ahead so I can get the discussion questions together and I was like I got to slow down lol I’ll get ahead of myself. It’s really that good! My first time reading was via audiobook so this is the first time I had the hardcopy
This is great. I’m going to see if I can find the books. As someone who came to America when I was four for my daddy to finish school and ended up staying due to unforeseen circumstances, my opinion is that America had great global marketing since inception, “Give us your tired, huddled masses…” and they’ll work them to death. Many times when Africans want to come is because the American dollar can stretch further in some parts of the continent, so they can take care of their families. I’m from northern Nigeria, Hausaland, but our tribe is Hyam, and our language has pieces of Hausa, but it’s small. But I love these conversations
I have to agree that it is the currency and broader opportunities that sparks the interest to Africans, compared to how it is back home. I’m glad you know your family’s origin and language and the fact that the roots of it stem from the Hausa language. Nigeria has so many tribes and languages that if the youth do not keep it in the family to pass down for the future generations they will become lost
